Hello! I have been asked to give an explanation on how to right another wolf without powerplaying or godmoding. This was requested by the Admin and is expected to be read by everyone before the war occurs and certainly before any fighting.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Table of Contents
I. What is Powerplaying?
II. What is Godmoding?
III. How to fight 1 vs 1.
IV. How to fight group vs group.
V. How to win.
VI. How to lose.
VII. Strength Scale.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. What is Powerplaying?
A. Powerplaying is when you don't give your opponent a chance to respond to your attack before the given outcome.
Powerplaying can be seen in any RP including normal conversation but is most prominent in fighting. The reason for this is that everyone wants to win of course. Everyone wants to be the strongest and prove something to someone else. It is easy to prevent this.
Powerplaying Example: Wolf #1 lunges at his opponent and sinks his teeth into his neck. Once his jaw is locked he pulls back, tearing all of the organs and flesh from his wolf. He chews on the flesh knowing his opponent is severely wounded.
Response: Even though you didn't say you killed the wolf, its pretty obvious hes going to die. You gave the other player no chance to respond to the attack.
Good Example: Wolf #1 lunges at his opponent and sinks his teeth in his neck.
Response: Stopping here is even ok. Because you are giving the opponent a chance to respond. Wolf #2 can easily respond like such: 'Wolf #2 lunges out of the way from the bite to the neck and glares at Wolf #1'. See no harm done.
Better Example: Wolf #1 lunges at his opponent and attempts to sink his teeth into his neck.
Response: Using that key word is very important. This lets the player of the other wolf understand you are not trying to powerplay but only throw an attack.
You might ask "How will either wolf EVER hit each other at this rate?" That is where Godmoding comes into play.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. What is Godmoding?
A. Godmoding is when you continuously evade attacks from your opponent.
All creatures have weaknesses and cannot escape every attack thrown at them. You need to be wise though on a few things. One is how strong your wolf is compared to your opponent, and be realistic. Two is what are your strengths and what are your opponents strength. I dont think i need to give examples about Godmoding.
Think of it almost as if you are playing chess. You may see if fit to take a certain hit in order to gain advantage to another body part. I will give an Example of this and use my character for the example. Try to get a mental image.
Example: Kokuyo growled taking the bite to his shoulder. As his opponent was locked onto his shoulder he was given the clear sight to his front paws. He whirled his head around and took crunch of the paw, tugging at it to see if he could get his opponent to let go of his shoulder.
So be wise on which attacks hit but also know the predetermined outcome. If it's pretty even fight as far as strength of the two wolves you can flip a coin or be generous and mature and give your opponent the ability to win knowing it will build your character more.
That is another thing you must understand, how to win and how to lose, but that is later on.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. How to fight 1 on 1.
Before you even start the match, the two players should discuss the outcome. This makes the fight go by a whole lot easier. If the distance is far on the Strength list then its obvious the outcome. I suggest not picking fights you know you cant win unless you want to lose.
When fighting one on one you take turns back and forth, its pretty simple and you should obey the rules against powerplaying and godmoding. As long as you keep that in mind the one on one should go by rather quickly.
If you are determined to die or lose, do not simply give up in the middle of the fight or people the fight occurs. Give us a show and do your wolf some honor. By fighting it all out you can expose your wolf to certain attacks and make him stronger. See fighting as training in some cases where you lose. The more you fight the stronger you will be and the more exposed to attacks you will get.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. How to fight group vs group.
This section will be very handy when the war comes. This isnt too difficult. Your wolves will still fight one wolf at a time but you need to keep yourself aware of your surroundings. If a fellow pack member needs your help you should run to their aid.
In the instance you have two against one. Be warned you may last a while but probably wont survive. If you are high on the strength scale and both wolves attacking you are weak then youll be fine. If you get more wolves on you, you may want to shout for help.
Now lets say its 3 on 2. You and your pal are fighting 3. Allow those 3 to all post before you and your partner respond. This will make things more orderly. Remember to follow the rules on powerplaying and godmoding. As long as you follow these rules you should be alright.
I suppose i can give an example of this. Please note i will make 5 seperate quotes:
"Kokuyo snarled at one of his opponents. He had chosen this one to attack and made his move. He forced thr ground out from under him with his hind legs and opened his jaws ready to sink them into the neck." <---Key Words: He has made an attack to your neck.
"Sarabi, who was on Kokuyos side, growled at the other two. She noticed Kokuyo had already started his attack on one and had the burden of facing two. She lowered herself to the ground and slammed into one wolf, biting at his shoulder." <--- Key Words: the attack as been attempted.
Now once One side has gone its the turn for the other side which in this case is the three wolves. I will give them random names.
"Apalla snarled viciously at Kokuyo as he attacked her. She swirled to the side to avoid the hit to the neck but in turn got punctured in the side where her ribcage was. A sharp noise came with pain and she sent a sharp glare at Kokuyo. She made a quick turn of the head and took his ear into her mouth." <--- Key Words: attempting to bite his ear, and she took a hit to get a better advantage. He cant escape if hes latched onto her.
"Luna grinned at Sarabi as she watched her, knowing she was outnumbered. She watched her moves closely noticing how she went after her friend instead and lowered herself to the ground before lunging at Sarabi in attempts to attack her hind." <--- Key Words: She attempted, this can have two effects. Since she posted before the wolf sarabi attacked did, Sarabi can evade this attack by Luna forcing her to cancel her attack on the other wolf or she can take the hit by Luna and have a greater chance of hitting her opponent. This is when Luna and the other wolf have to think closely. If Sarabi takes a hit from Luna and makes her hit on the other wolf, the other wolf can turn and hit her. Thats one hit for sarabi and two hits for luna and the other wolf.
"Marzo yelped when he was hit by Sarabi. He had taken the blow to the shoulder in order to benefit his partner. He snarled lowly at Sarabi and ducked his head under to bite at her paw." <--- Key Words: Attempting to bite at her paw.
Now it would start all over, starting with kokuyo's response. He could continue to fight Apalla or run to his partners aid. When Sarabi's turn comes she had to understand that because she hit Marzo she is more then likely going to be hit by both. Thats when you have to understand that every action you take has a responding action and a lot of the time you cant avoid it. Be careful on what attacks you make and take when fighting group on group but also 1 on 1.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V. How to win.
Everyone wants to win. Losing of course is looked down upon but there are benefits to both. In this section i will talk about the benefits to winning.
Benefit #1: You won. Victory is yours. Yay to pride.
Benefit #2: You are stronger. You have experienced a fight and people respect you more, and your place may change on the strength scale
Benefit #3: The ladies love you ~.^ jkjkjk.
Even though winning is very beneficial and does make you stronger we all have our share fair of losing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VI. How to lose.
Even though winning has its benefits so does losing. Thats crazy how is that possible? A few things.
Benefit #1: You have experienced a fight, you have better understanding of specific moves.
Benefit #2: Being shown a move once gives you the chance to come up with a counter.
Benefit #3: Your endurance level to pain may rise.
See so both ends have a benefit. You may ask me why people still dont like losing, and ill just say its a pride thing.
About dieing: Of course your character cant die unless you want them to die. Lets get our paws around the concept though. Your wolf has been in play for a while and has a lot of close relations with his pack and has a high position or something another. This doesn't make him invincible. You should always have in mind what kind of impact the death of this character would have on everyone else. It might be better to kill your character to form a better story, and thats perfectly ok. Once that character is dead you pick up another and go on your way. Of course no one will kill their character until they are good and ready, but understand something with wolves. If you are fighting one that is way more powerful then you, realistically you will die. Thus i suggest not picking fights with these wolves. For example, if your a member of a pack and you fight an alpha from another...? Dont do it man!! lol. Now a Beta vs an Alpha would be more of a fair fight.
Just be careful what fights you pick.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VII. Strength Scale
This will be posted by the Admin. I feel she has a good sense of everyone strength and can list it accordingly. Itll look something like this but with names below every name:
Apalla
Hanible
Sarabi

That is totally an example i just filled the slots with names i could remember. Once the scale is complete you may want to refer to the list before going into battle.
Also a little bit of common sense. Alphas are stronger then any other ranking wolf.
Alpha
Beta

So even if you fight before the scale is up remember that little bit of info.
